Kay & McLean Productions & the Arts Centre in association with Meow Meow Revolution presents
MEOW MEOW
Feline Intimate
12 - 14 November 2009
We know she’s slinky, we know she’s sexy, we know she’s superb; well now Meow Meow is being secretive, sneaking into town under cover of darkness to get up close and squishy with Melbourne for four intimate shows at the Fairfax
Coming directly from Moscow and the Sydney Opera House and on her way back to New York, the purr-fect post, post-modern cabaret diva could not resist dropping by to treat Melbourne fans to a delicious meal of their favourite Meow morsels.
Meow’s unique brand of kamikaze cabaret kitsch and performance art exotica has hypnotised audiences worldwide and taken her from New York to Shanghai, Berlin to London to Vegas. There’s not a city in the world that’s not head over heels in love with this fabulous feline.
Beyond Glamour, Meow’s solo show, sold out fast last time she visited Melbourne Festival and was also chosen by David Bowie for his High Line Festival in New York, “incited” by director John Cameron Mitchell (creator of Shortbus and Hedwig and the Angry Inch). VAMP blew Melbourne’s mind in 2008!
This is Meow Meow stripped bare (figuratively speaking of course, although you never know your luck) and close enough that you can touch her (literally, we’re sure she’ll love it).
Meow’s collaborators include a who’s who of music, cabaret, performance art and theatre; from NY’s Justin Bond, Taylor Mac and Penny Arcade to Iain Grandage, The Dresden Dolls, Pina Bausch and now the legendary Mikhail Baryshnikov.
In Feline Intimate Meow, accompanied by a pianist and composer will take the audience on a unforgettable and often spontaneous journey……..not to be missed!
“drags cabaret kicking and screaming into the 21st century.”
Time Out New York
“Meow Meow takes the art of cabaret and splits it open, exposing the disillusioned, yearning heart that beats under the sequins.”
